There were many times in the life of Charlie Westover that he wanted to run away.
As a kid, Charlie upheld the responsibilities of the older brother to two young sisters. Growing up in Coopersville, Michigan could be difficult for a young boy when every mother in the neighborhood made sure Charlie’s mom knew of every infraction. Mrs. Emmons caught him swearing in her backyard once and made the obligatory phone call. It made Charlie just want to run away. Many times he ran away to trouble and away from his classes. Under his name in the yearbook, it reads, “Mischief and I are pals.”Read more
