Renovations wrap up as What A Do prepares for season’s first production

What A Do Theatre is wrapping up construction at their new location just in time for their first production of the season.

Actors will hit the stage at What A Do Theatre’s new location for the first time this Thanksgiving weekend on a stage that wasn’t there a month ago.

What A Do Theatre moved into their new location at 4071 W. Dickman Road the last week of October, turning a vacant, 8,000 sq. ft. office building owned by HBC Contracting into a black box theater and office space.

2011 Battle Creek Holiday Parade

The 32nd Annual Battle Creek Holiday Parade presented by the Harper Creek Optimist Club was a huge success.  Thousands of excited children and adults alike lined the alternate parade route this year, which traveled down Van Buren to Capital to Michigan.  This year's parade theme was “Christmas Safari”.

There were many times in the life of Charlie Westover that he wanted to run away. 

As a kid, Charlie upheld the responsibilities of the older brother to two young sisters.  Growing up in Coopersville, Michigan could be difficult for a young boy when every mother in the neighborhood made sure Charlie’s mom knew of every infraction.  Mrs. Emmons caught him swearing in her backyard once and made the obligatory phone call.  It made Charlie just want to run away.  Many times he ran away to trouble and away from his classes.  Under his name in the yearbook, it reads, “Mischief and I are pals.”
